Waugh Street Bats

We spent Steve's birthday, Saturday, June 14th, waiting for sunset next to the Waugh Street Bridge. We were waiting for the mass exodus of the 250,000+ bats that call the bridge home. Our long wait was filled with watching a few bats making the rounds under the bridge. Eventually, more bats joined them before leaving the bridge. At this point hundreds were leaving, making their way down the bayou before swirling into the Houston skies. The sight and sound of all those bats was incredible. The smell? Well, the smell of the guano was quite strong at times. It lingered in our nostrils long after we were on our way home! Wish I could share the video, but I am still learning how to do that...
