Father's Day 2008

We spent Father's Day canoeing the Colorado River in Columbus, Texas. This is the second trip where we have put in at the Howell Canoe Livery http://www.howellcanoe.com/ and had a wonderful day. We found one of our best fossils and a few bits of petrified wood along the way. Unfortunately, it was a very hot 99 degrees today. We took some time to play in the water and cool off. Thankfully, the cows left us alone while we were splashing in the river. The trip is an easy 6 miles around Columbus. This is a great place for the girls to learn canoeing on a river. Up until the last couple of trips we have stayed on calm lakes. This is a VERY calm river with only a few spots of "whitewater." It is just enough to get the girls excited! We will return soon to find some more cool fossils. Our goal is to find some corpralite, fossilized dino poop. It can't get any better than that, can it?
